MAKOS try to maintain the lowest cost of any USA
swim program in the southwestern Ohio area. The largest expense to
the club is facility fees to rent pool time at the Rec Center. The
primary source of income to the team other than swimmers fees is
derived at Mako-hosted meets. During the short course season of
2010 - 2011, we plan to host the Mako Holiday Spirit Classic meet in December
and the OH SC Senior Championship Meet in March.
In addition, we raise funds by asking each family to support the club by
helping as a timer for Miami hosted swim
meets and by using their Kroger card. Below is the minimum that we ask your family to support as
part of your obligation to the club regardless of which level or
program you child/children participate in:
1. (December, March 2011, and summer 2011). Hosting meets is by
far our single most productive source of fund raising, and they
keep our team fees lower than other teams in the area.
Meet Policy: The Makos currently host three - four meets every
year (December 10 - 12, March 4 - 6, May ?, Mid July ?). These meets are the
major fundraiser for the club to cover the cost of operations
throughout the year. Please mark this meet on your calendar.
Families of Mako swimmers are required to work a minimum of five
sessions (Bronze, Silver, and Gold) or three sessions (Sharks and
Bites) at each Mako-hosted meet throughout the year. Please
take note that you may not have a swimmer competing in a meet, but
your family is still required to work your required sessions. If you are not
able to work one or all of your required sessions at the meet it
is YOUR responsibility to find someone to work those sessions for
you. Families can meet this obligation by having their kids in 5th
grade or older work the meets.
Alternatively, if your family is unable to work the required
sessions either yourself or with substitutes, you can full fill
your requirement by paying the cost required for Makos to hire
other organizations to work your sessions. Current rate is $25.00
per session. Please contact the meet coordinator to arrange
to pay the fee.
Makos will pay the event fees, of one swimmer, for each 5
sessions/3 sessions worked. For example, if a bronze swimmer's
family works 5 sessions, Makos will pay the cost for that swimmer
to swim all of their events. The only thing that the parent will
be responsible for is the $2.00 Surcharge fee that goes to Ohio
Swimming. Families with 2 or more swimmers would need to work the
additional 3 or 5 sessions to cover the meet fees for the
additional children. We will not be giving partial credit for
sessions worked less than stipulated. So, if a family has a bronze
swimmer participating in the meet, we will not waive his/her fees
if there were only 4 sessions worked by his/her family. The Makos
encourages friends, grandparents, aunts and uncles to work the
meets, to lessen the amount of sessions worked by the immediate
family members.
Experience is not necessary for most of the jobs. It’s a great
opportunity to see your kids swim up close and meet other Mako
parents and swimmers.
Please contact a board
member if you have any questions.
2. Provide swimmers or family members to time at Miami hosted
meets such as the Master Meets in November.
3. Kroger Cards This is the easiest fundraiser that we can do to
support the club. All you have to do is use a Kroger gift card
from the MAKOS when you shop at Krogers.
Makos will split the reward dollars. 2% will
go to your family escrow account and 2% will go to MAKOs.
-
Pick up your Kroger Gift Card
from the club representative. These starter cards have a balance
of $1 courtesy of the MAKOS.
-
Add value to your gift card
at the courtesy desk at Kroger before you shop with any amount
up to $250.
-
You are allowed to add funds
to your card with cash, check, or major credit card. You need to
load your card as a separate transaction, this may be done at
the register before you pay for your purchases.
- The balance on your
card will show at the bottom of your receipt. You may also
obtain your balance by calling 866-822-6252 or at
www.gcbalance.com
We encourage you to take additional cards for friends/family
members.
We will only receive credit
if you take a gift card from the MAKOS. Do not purchase the gift
card at Krogers, Makos will not receive credit if you do.
